Avenue Centre For Education (ACE)

Service: ACE 1. ACE Assessments
Core per School:   Included as part of A2/A3/A4 both Core & Commissioned. When delivered as a traded service to schools the cost is £180-00.

Remit: A comprehensive Behaviour & Education pupil assessment conducted by an expert team. This 6 hour assessment will provide focused, detailed and accurate guidelines from which to develop effective interventions.

 

Service: ACE 2. ACE Route Mainstream
Core per School: Schools can access up to 2.0 FTE places as required on service strands A2 & A4 as part of core allocation. Schools can commission additional places on service strands A2 & A4 subject to capacity.

Remit: Pupils on an ACE Route Mainstream Education Plan attend ACE & School – Personalised target driven interventions for KS3 & KS4 pupils. Route mainstream is based on dual-registered education provision at ACE and School. The ACE based component is a rigorous education & personal development provision based on providing constructive respite & focuses on improving pupils attitudes to school and self to facilitate effective and sustainable reintegration back in to either full time mainstream education or a school supported longer term bespoke Mainstream/AP plan.

Where a student is attending ACE on a Route Mainstream pathway with a successful return to mainstream being the target, schools are requested to identify any subject specific content that thy would like a student to cover to help assist a successful return to mainstream education.

 

Service: ACE 3. ACE Ready for Mainstream
Core per School: When delivered as a traded service to schools the cost of A2 & A4 service strands is £105-00 per day. (Route 19  costs could vary subject to specific requests)

Remit: Personalised target driven interventions for KS3 & KS4 pupils to support integration back in to mainstream following permanent exclusion &/or a referral from Pupil Placement Panel or LA Admissions & Alternative Learning & Progression Teams.. This intervention is based on a rigorous education plan based at ACE and supplemented by targeted Alternative Provision. These provisions are based on focusing on developing positive attitudes to school and self to facilitate effective and sustainable reintegration back in to full time mainstream education via referral to Pupil Placement Panel.

 

Service: ACE 4. ACE Route 19
Core per School:
Service Lead: HB / CB
Remit: Pupils on an ACE Route 19 Education Plan attend ACE & School or Alternative Provision. Route 19 is ACE’s programme based on delivering pupils with a plausible route to adulthood that is not dependent upon the traditional mainstream education model. Route 19 meets the needs of pupils for whom full-time mainstream education in KS4 is not a feasibility &/or does not best meet the young person’s needs. Route 19 makes sense of education for disaffected or disengaged young people. It is about identifying talents, skills, ambition and dreams and involves delivering intensive bespoke education plans combining core & customised option subjects designed to produce optimised qualification & personal development outcomes that will facilitate a managed a personalised post progression plan.

It is possible for a pupil to be referred onto Route 19 whilst attending school part-time. In these cases the Route 19 ACE based provision is used to sustain & enhance the actual & perceived value of the mainstream provision.

Service: ACE 5. ACE – PACE
Core per School:

Remit: Pupils on a PACE (pre-ACE) Education Plan s access an intensive & targeted ACE based placement for a period of up to 4 weeks. During this time comprehensive Behaviour & Education pupil assessments will be conducted by an expert ACE team. These assessments will provide focused, detailed and accurate guidelines from which to develop effective interventions and determine the students next steps pathway.

 

Service: ACE 6. ACE Zoo Academy
Core per School: Schools can access 1 place per programme, taken out of the Core allocated to A2/A3/A4. When delivered as a traded service to schools the cost is £75-00 per day

Remit: Working alongside animals in an educational setting has proved to have many positive benefits for learning. The aim of the Zoo Academy course is to introduce students to working within the Animal Care sector by working with an international conservation charity ZSL Whipsnade Zoo. During the course, students will gain an insight into the natural world and learn about animals and how the Zoo protects them through a variety of job roles that exist within the ZSL organisation.

Students build up a folder of work and photographs of the activities they have been involved in. Work is both classroom based and practical spent in the Zoo’s many enclosures.

The course is run one day a week for six weeks with a maximum of six students. A graduation ceremony is then held on the last day of the course where parents/carers are invited to attend to see the students’ achievements.

 

Service: ACE 7. ACE Market Garden & Landscape Management
Core per School: Schools can access 1 place per programme, taken out of the Core allocated to A2/A3/A4. When delivered as a traded service to schools the cost is £75-00 per day

Remit: A 6 week course for Students with an interest in the outdoors. Students will learn simple planting techniques, tool use and garden maintenance. This course is ideal for students who enjoy nature, the environment, gardening and those students who need a therapeutic approach

 

Service: ACE 8. ACE Directional Group work
Core per School: Schools can access 1 place per programme, taken out of the Core allocated to A2/A3/A4. When delivered as a traded service to schools the cost is £75-00 per day

Remit: Directional will be working in Partnership with ACE @ The Hub delivering a specialist one day project over a period of 10 weeks. During this 10 weeks the students will cover four various motivational projects to improve behavior, aspirations and confidence.

Directional and ACE @ The Hub have two main outcomes in common; to reduce permanent exclusion and to improve behaviour amongst the young people within Luton.

A graduation ceremony is then held on the last day of the course where parents/carers are invited to attend to see the students’ achievements.

 

Service: ACE 9. ACE Examination Hosting
Core per School: Traded per exam + £20 Invigilation fee per Exam

Remit: Limited service for schools & AP’s for students who are unable to sit exams in school or provisions. ACE is registered with all of the examination boards. Schools will need to complete a HAM referral to request, once approved the exams officer should  complete the Transfer Candidate paperwork.

Alternative Provisions can enter students as External Candidates, An Exam Referral Form will need to be completed before February half term

 

Hub Extended Services to Schools

Service: HUB 1. Personalised Pupil Support – This includes: Outreach Support
Core per School: Core (7 sessions per week – Mixed between services) Additional sessions traded £55p/h

Remit: Outreach – this will be a specialist Early intervention initially focusing on an in class observation to identify student needs and make recommendations to the school. The Team will target ‘Hot Spot’ lessons and provide students with strategies to manage, reduce disruptive behaviour and improve access to learning.

 

Service: HUB 2. Mentoring/Coaching Support
Core per School:

Remit: Mentoring/Coaching – A 6 week one to one Mentoring/Coaching Session focusing on specialist targeted interventions bespoke to the student’s needs. This programme is designed to improve pupil attitude to school and self and support the student in achieving their personal targets.

 

Service: HUB 3. Counselling

Remit: A 6 week one to one Counselling Session focusing on specialist targeted interventions bespoke to the student’s needs.

 

Service: HUB 4. ACE @ The Hub Specialist Projects
Core per School: Traded on Request £80 p/h
Service Lead: MW
Remit: The planning, preparation and delivering of specific projects identified by the school and delivered by staff at ACE – examples of topics that could be explored include: Knife crime, CSE, Harmful sexualised behaviour, digital safeguarding. This can include training for staff such as staff inset training or delivery at staff meetings.

 

Service: HUB 5. Behaviour Consultancy
Core per School: Traded on request £80 p/h

Remit: NLE & SLE Expert advice on designing in school behaviour improvement interventions including ethos, models of working, assessment, progress in learning, curriculum, behaviour management, rewards & recognition schemes, alternative accreditations and plausible routes to adulthood.

 

Service: HUB 6. Shadowing Programme
Core per School: Traded on request £80 p/h

Remit: Opportunities for school based staff to visit ACE to see outstanding practise in Action. Discuss strategies with staff teams, observe pupil learning in an outstanding alternative setting

 

Service: HUB 7. Harmful Sexualised Behaviour Consultation & Assessment 
Core per School: Traded on request £80 p/h
Service Lead: MW
Remit: Consultation with schools, possibly leading to a specialist HSB assessment for students displaying potentially harmful sexualised behaviours. This is for direct referrals from schools for those displaying Amber behaviours according to the Brook Traffic Light tool. Those students displaying predominantly Red behaviours should be referred via MASH or Social Care.

 

Service: HUB 8. Group Work 
Core per School: Core (3 Programmes per year) Additional programmes traded at £450 per programme

Remit: Group works delivered by the Hub Extended Services Team. Delivered to an identified group of students between 4 and 8 participants on topics such as managing emotions, risky behaviours, SRE, emotional wellbeing etc.  Bespoke programmes can be developed on request.

 

Service: HUB 9. Transition Support
Core per School: Traded £50.00 p/h

Remit: Specialist support for students that require support with the transition between year 6 and 7. This can be one to one or groups.

 

Service: HUB 10. Safeguarding Consultancy
Core per School: Core for ACE/ALPS Students. Traded £80.00 p/h

Remit: Specialist consultation regarding strategic safeguarding issues. Areas covered can include policy, training and strategic support .

 

Service: HUB 11. Hub Network Meetings
Core per School: Core

Remit: Hub Network Meetings are schedules in once per half term for Hub Link leads to meet to discuss the best ways Ace @ The Hub can support schools and the ongoing work of the Hub Extended Services team and the Services to Schools model delivery.

 

Service: HUB 12. EHCP Support & Advice

Remit: Internal Service for ACE/ALPS students not on the role of a school to support the submission of EHCP Applications.

 

Alternative Learning & Progression Service

Service: ALPS 1. Bladed weapon protocol – Alternative to PEX
Core per School: 1 core place per school year
Service Lead: SP
Remit: Targeted programme for students that meet specific criteria related to bringing a bladed article onto school premises. Programme runs as an alternative to PEX and will include time at ACE, Specific weapons input and 1-1 home tuition.

Remit:  Bespoke training programme for school staff. This could be small groups, twilight training or full staff training days. Topics can include, Teaching and Learning, Behaviour or Safeguarding.

Remit: A letter must be provided from a Consultant or CAMH Clinician confirming the student is unable to attend mainstream school. This will be a minimum of 3 x 2 hour sessions per week for 6 weeks.
