Route 19 School Day

Students attend ACE EP from across the town and at any one time we have students from most of the different secondary schools and academies and their respective catchment areas.

As students are expected to make their own way to the Centre, we have a deliberately delayed start and offer a break-fast club as a way of both encouraging and rewarding high levels of attendance and punctuality. This is also a key time for valuable pastoral work where staff are able to talk to students about any personal barriers to learning, remind students of their key individual targets and ensure that they are mentally and emotionally ready for the start of lessons.

The curriculum is built around four main strands of learning:
  • Academic GCSE and equivalent qualifications
  • Life Skills Careers, Food, Art, PSHE
  • Personal Wellbeing Activities, Key working, enrichment trips and visits
  • Vocational Work related qualifications off-site*
* Where students are attending vocational learning with external providers, they follow the daily timetable in place at that provision. All off-site provision is arranged, funded and tracked by ACE staff from our list of quality approved and monitored providers.
