Autism Team Online Parent Support Groups

Hello FLAG member,

We hope you continue to stay safe and well during these unusual times.

The Autism team have been reflecting on how we keep in touch with our support groups while face-to-face meetings are not possible. We know many members value our group meetings and the opportunity to engage with other parents and carers. With this in mind, we have taken the decision to trial taking our meetings into the virtual world.

We will be trialing a Zoom group on Thursday 18th June 4pm – 4.45pm, and invite you to join us. For our first meeting we are inviting members of both our FLAG and SWAN groups to attend.

If you are interested in joining the meeting, please reply to Chloe.Bishop@luton.gov.uk no later than 5pm Wednesday 17th June. The Zoom meeting will be password protected, and will only be shared with those who have requested to join the group. Additional guidance on joining a Zoom meeting is attached.

If you are planning on attending, we would be grateful if you could provide some information to help guide our conversation:

Has your child returned to school: Yes/No

Please indicate any topics you would like to discuss:

  • Sleep
  • Routine
  • Transition
  • Covid-19 related Anxiety
  • Preparing for, and returning to school
  • Learning at home
  • Bereavement
  • Other (please specify)

We recognise that online groups are not for everyone, and would like to reassure you that we will continue to send regular email updates. Members of the team also remain available to provide individual support; simply drop us an email and we will be happy to help!

Best wishes,

The Autism Spectrum Team
